MEMORIES (composed in the first quarter of 1996)

The rainbow at whose very sight
I jumped up in sheer joy;
Now means little more to me,
Than just a child’s toy.

The days of childhood I have passed,
And now they’re just like dreams;
For they now remain as memories,
That flow like silver streams.

The songs I sang, the books I read,
And the games I loved to play;
The memories of my past days,
I treasure through each day.

Every day I begin with a new hope,
And not once I pause to think;
That in the ocean of memories,
They too will one day sink.

Nice. The rhyme, I think, is excellent.
